Rack Law Group, PLLC, has given a $30,000 charitable contribution to purchase laptops to be used by children who are homeless to ensure that they can engage in remote learning and complete schoolwork during this time of crisis.
The commitment follows the law firm’s collaboration with The Infinite Bond Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity that has worked with A New Leaf to create events for young survivors of domestic violence, according to a release.
“While our commitment to our underprivileged communities is strong, our focus remains on the children, and by providing them with educational resources, we are making a profound impact that will shape their lives and minds forever," Adam Rack, attorney at Rack Law Group, said in the release.
A New Leaf is a nonprofit organization with 30 programs across the Valley, impacting 28,000 people a year. Services address nearly all social determinants of health related to long-term economic and housing stability, including emergency shelter, supportive housing, domestic violence support services, financial empowerment, behavioral and primary health care, foster care, early childhood education, and family preservation services, the release states.
Rack Law Group’s decision to partner with A New Leaf comes after spending time with and forming bonds with the children from A New Leaf’s shelter and housing programs through events coordinated by The Infinite Bond Foundation.
“The children watch and learn from us,” Anthony Rack, business manager at the firm, said in the release. “We have been educating them through kindness and acceptance, and now we have the opportunity to help educate them through scholastic means.”
A New Leaf will use the donation to establish a technology library at their La Mesita Community in Mesa, which offers emergency shelter and supportive housing for families. It houses more than 500 individuals each year, with 60% of them children.
“A New Leaf is working to ensure that children in our shelter and housing programs have access to the technology that they need to keep up with school,” A New Leaf CEO Michael Hughes said in the release.
“Even under normal circumstances, this is important for success in today’s education. With the uncertainty of how the new school year will look amid the COVID-19 pandemic, access to technology has become paramount for students to transition to online learning," he said in the release. "This donation will ensure children at La Mesita can keep up with school and will allow their families to access virtual health care services, pursue employment opportunities, and other resources. We are very grateful for our partnership with the Rack Law Group and The Infinite Bond Foundation.”
