Florence chamber to host Business & Community Excellence Awards

The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce is hosting its inaugural Business & Community Excellent Awards. The best businesses and citizens of greater Florence will be honored that evening. 

Tickets are on sale for the event set for  7-9 p.m.  Jan. 31 at GreenTree Inn & Suites, 240 AZ-287, Florence.  Cost is $40 per person. Those  interested in  purchasing tickets can call Executive Director Roger Biede at  510-418-3959.

The chamber awards committee nominated three to five chamber members for each of the following awards.  The nominees were then presented to the board of directors for approval before being sent to chamber membership for a final vote.  Each chamber member can vote only once per membership.

  1. Nonprofit of the Year
    • A member in good standing with the Greater
      Florence Chamber of Commerce
    • An active organization serving Pinal County with
      a nonprofit designation
    • Successful organization through verifiable data
      that supports the community while adhering to its mission statement
  2. Small Business of the Year (1-20 employees)
    • A member in good standing with the Greater
      Florence Chamber of Commerce
    • Business that has had a positive impact on the
      Greater Florence area
    • Business that has demonstrated commitment to
      community and the mission of the chamber
  3. Large Business of the Year (21+ employees)
    • A member in good standing with the Greater
      Florence Chamber of Commerce
    • Business that has had a positive impact on the
      Greater Florence area
    • Business that has demonstrated commitment to
      community and the mission of the chamber
  4. “Heartbeat of Florence” Business of the Year
    • A member in good standing with the Greater
      Florence Chamber of Commerce
    • Business located in Florence, AZ and is not part
      of a national business or franchise
    • Business is a strong advocate for Florence and
      actively contributes to the community in positive and impactful ways
    • Business is an economic driver for Florence

These awards are bestowed annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community.  Individuals will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Youth of the Year
    • Open to youths ages 7-17 living in the Greater Florence area
    • Youth must have clearly demonstrated his or her passion for the community through projects at school, home, or through civic organizations
  • Volunteer of the Year
    • Open to adults volunteering in Pinal County
    • Has made outstanding contributions to Greater
      Florence through volunteer service that benefit the community

    • Shows a passion for Florence, its residents, and
      demonstrates the desire to move the community forward in a positive direction
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Accomplishments toward the betterment of the Greater Florence area
  • Character and Civic Leadership
  • Advocating for Florence and the greater Florence area
  • Other factors may include personal and business accomplishments
