Doris, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2020 in Sun City West, AZ. Dorie was born on May 11, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA. the daughter of Dorothea (McCarroll) and Dalton David Secor.
Beloved wife of the late John R. Hopkins, loving mom of Mary Elizabeth, Mark, the late Tim (Jane) and Douglas (Libby), proud grandma of Robert and Teddy, Maxine, Hayley and Katie, Harry (Catherine), Clare and Sam and great-granddaughter Joan. Dorie is survived by her brother David Secor.
Dorie grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from South Hills H.S. and then the University of Pittsburgh in 1954 Phi Beta Kappa. She was a talented painter, gardener, ikebana enthusiast, creator of amazing miniature scenes, adventurous traveler and avid genealogist. She had an infectious laugh and was extremely well read. Doris always remained active in many groups including Kappa Alpha Theta, D.A.R, and Magna Carta Society.
Dorie who loved warm weather, enjoyed her retirement in South Carolina and Arizona.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
