Posted

The nominations are in for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence awards. Seven Chandler neighborhoods are vying for the People’s Choice award.

Registered HOAs and traditional neighborhoods in Chandler who held a community G.A.I.N. event last fall as part of the region’s Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods initiative held in partnership with local police departments were eligible to be nominated.

These Chandler neighborhoods are up for the People’s Choice Award:

• Dobson Estates II, near Alma School and Elliot roads

• Fox Crossing, near Alma School and Ocotillo roads

• Sun Groves, near Lindsay and Riggs roads

• Terraces at Tiburon, near Warner and Dobson roads

• The Springs, near McQueen and Frye roads

• Tyson Manor, near Galveston Street and Alma School Road

• Whispering Heights, near Chandler Heights and Lindsay roads

Voting is now open through 5 p.m. Monday, Aug.12. Votes can be cast online at this link.

Voters are encouraged to visit the website to read the nominations highlighting each neighborhood’s G.A.I.N. event.

Voters may cast one vote per device. The winner will be announced at the G.A.I.N. Kick-off Registration Event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Chandler Police Department community room, 250 E. Chicago Street, downtown.

The winner will receive a first-place pick in this year’s G.A.I.N. event lottery, as much as $1,000 for their G.A.I.N. event, and an opportunity to have member(s) of the Chandler City Council  attend their event between 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

In addition to the People’s Choice Award, Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke will review the nominations and select a "mayor's choice" winner of his own.

Residents also can visit the G.A.I.N. webpage to learn more about hosting a neighborhood event this year.
