'Salad' short a part of Chandler film festival

CIFF set for Jan. 24 through Feb. 2

Director Roe Moore will be screening her short film "Breakfast Salad" at the Chandler International Film Festival on Saturday Jan 25.

CIFF showings are taking place at the LOOK Dine-In Cinema, according to a news release. This year's 10-day festival takes place from  Jan. 24 to Feb.  2.

"Breakfast Salad" asks the hard questions, such as "Wouldn’t it be nice to have a group of friends to regularly get breakfast with?"

The trailer can be viewed here.

"Breakfast Salad"  was inspired by mockumentary-style comedies like "The Office"  and "Abbott Elementary." The film "explores the quirky facades we put on when we're around others," according to a news release.

Moore, a director with a passion for laughter and a taste for cookies, is also a standup comedian and graduate of Second City's Conservatory program.

She's known for directing award-winning short films "How We Met," "Drive to Airport," and the theatre play "Recess." She also servesd as associate director and script supervisor for HBO Max's "Fresh Prince of Bel Air Reunion," VH1's "RuPaul's Drag Race," Disney+'s "Earth To Ned," and CW's "Masters of Illusion."

"Breakfast Salad" is one of six nominees for this year's CIFF best comedy short film. Those will be shown Saturday, Jan. 25, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

CIFF is returning for its ninth year. It  will feature 150 films from more than 35 countries, workshops taught by professionals, nightly after parties in Downtown Chandler, Q&A discussions with cast and crew members and celebrity appearances.
