R. Harris: School districts shouldn’t provide psych or mental health care

I support Mr. (Chandler Unified School District Governing Board member Kurt) Rohrs 100%. Schools are to teach — they’re not mental health counselors or disciplinarians.

Behavior starts at HOME if a student has a problem the school needs to have a conference with the parents. If that does not solve the problem then refer them to (Board member Patti) Serrano’s suggestion to go to Liv Well or dream center and thats it. No on campus or interference with school.

It has become a student and parent problem. By Serrano talking about these organizations helping her family already suggests a conflict of interest.

There are institutions for this kind of help. Not in a school setting. Serrano needs to apologize for her ignorant comment to Mr. Rohrs.
