Chandler Police lock intersection, schools down for more than an hour

Chandler Police made several announcements Monday about a search for a domestic violence suspect, but lockdowns in the area were lifted with no word as to whether anyone was in custody.  

Shortly before noon Monday, Chandler Police began tweeting updates from the intersection of Ray and Dobson roads.

"We are investigating a domestic violence shooting with a known suspect," CPD said in one tweet. "At this time, the suspect is still at large. Nearby schools will remain on lockdown/modified lockdown, and we are still asking for citizens to avoid this area."

Several shopping centers, as well as Andersen Elementary and Andersen Junior High School and Seton Catholic Prep, are located near the intersection. 

In an email news release sent out just after noon, Chandler Police said  there was still a heavy police presence in the area as officers actively searched for the subject involved.  One subject was transported to a local hospital, but their condition was not provided.

Schools and businesses remained on shelter-in-place for at least one hour, police said. About 1 p.m., police said the intersection was open, but some areas were still  closed with police presence. School lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders were lifted.

As of 4:45 p.m., according to Chandler Police, no one had been taken into custody as a result of the search.
