Chandler Police confirm name of woman shot by officers Aug. 1

The Chandler Police Department has confirmed the name of a woman it says was wielding a gun at a south Chandler apartment complex  and was shot and killed by officers.

Lorie Martha O'Neal, 49, was shot and  killed Thursday, Aug. 1 at a complex in the 2200 block of Dobson Road, south of Germann Road.

Police said at about 3 p.m. they were on the scene of an officer-involved shooting near Dobson and Germann.

"No officers were injured," police said. "There is no threat to the community."

Police said  EVCIRT, the recently formed East Valley Critical Incident Response Team,  responded to the incident to investigate.

In an agreement recently approved by the Chandler City Council, the Mesa and Chandler police departments are the lead investigators in each other's officer-involved deaths..
