The Chandler Police Department recently released some statistics from its saturation DUI patrols the weekend of Cinco de Mayo, May 3-5.

The department said its DUI squad made 123 traffic stops. The unit made 18 DUI arrests.

Those arrests included three for aggravated DUI,  four extreme DUI charges and 15 misdemeanor  DUIs.

The average blood alcohol content among drivers tested was 0.153.

There were seven 20-day impounds of vehicles.

The squad also made three DUI drug arrests and six non-DUI arrests. Officers also issued  13 civil citations.

Officers also encountered 10 designated drivers.

Saturation patrols are common for Valley law enforcement agencies, especially on holiday weekends such as Memorial Day or Independence Day.
