Showtune Productions is holding local "non-Equity" adult auditions for the cast of its March 2026 production of Shrek The Musical.
Auditions are set to be held Saturday, July 19 at the same place the production is set to be performed: the Chandler Center for the Arts, according to a news release.
In anticipation of the auditions, Showtune Production's producer/musical director JR McAlexander and artistic director M. Seth Reines will host a free musical theater audition workshop for actors 15 and older on July 14 at 6 p.m. at the Center for the Arts. The workshop will offer audition tips to help attendees prepare for professional musical theatre auditions, from song selection to performance; preparation of resumes and headshots, as well as audition etiquette and attire.
A professional photographer will be on hand to take headshots, free of charge.
The auditions are set for Saturday, July 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Auditionees, who must be over the age of 18, should memorize 16 bars of a Broadway classic or a song from Shrek The Musical, and bring sheet or iPad music in their key and a professional headshot and resume.
Performances will be at the Chandler Center for the Arts on March 13 - 15, 2026. The show will feature a live onstage orchestra, animated scenic projections, full costuming and choreography.
All performers will be paid and must be available for all evening and full-day weekend rehearsals Jan. 2-4, 2026 and Feb. 28 to March 12.
Showtune Productions supports inclusive, non-traditional casting, the release states. For additional details, to sign up for an audition appointment, or to RSVP for the workshop, visit chandlercenter.org/ShrekAuditions.
