Cave Creek resident gifts land to town for non-motorized trail use

The Cave Creek Town Council on Oct. 7 approved the acceptance of 25 acres of land from a local resident for the purpose and advancement of a public non-motorized trail network and open space preservation.

The land, located near the end of Cahava Springs Road, was owned by Alan H. Rosenus. Rosenus planned to give the land to Brown University, but Vicky Preston, president of the Desert Foothills Land Trust, reached out to Rosenus over the summer.

As Rosenus was explaining to Preston his plan to give the land to Brown University, Preston tried a last ditch effort to acquire the land for the town.
