Cave Creek OKs Phoenix water meter collector agreement

Free-standing collector coming to Mt. Gillan radio tower site

The Cave Creek Town Council on Oct. 7 approved an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Phoenix to place a free-standing water meter collector on the Mt. Gillan radio tower site.

The unamimous 7-0 vote allows Cave Creek to place the water meter collector at Mt. Gillan, which is located near 7th Street and the Carefree Highway. The city of Phoenix will not charge Cave Creek a fee for the placement of the unit.

“These (meter collectors) are important because as we’ve started to convert our water meter system from the driveby system to the automatic meter infrastructure system, we need collector sites, so that effectively they’re up there listening for the meters themselves,” Utilities Director Shawn Kreuzwiesner said. “So our goal here is that this actually is really well placed.”
