The Wigwam’s golf shop was ranked among the top pro shops in the U.S. in 2021 by golf industry trade publication Club and Resort Business.
The golf shop at The Wigwam, a luxury resort in Litchfield Park, appeared 16th on the list of 32 top-ranked private club and resort pro shops.
University of Texas Golf Club in Austin topped the list. We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Fort McDowell ranked number 28.
Top pro shops were selected by a panel of independent judges comprised of club professionals.
The Wigwam golf shop is “consistently focused on the latest trends in clothing and accessories, while also featuring the hottest golf equipment and hard goods,” according to a news release from The Wigwam.
The Wigwam, a 440-acre resort features two separate golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and Robert “Red” Lawrence. It is the only Arizona resort boasting three 18-hole championship golf courses: the Gold, Blue and Red.
Each of the resort’s courses are parkland courses with “parallel fairways and greens, which makes finding your ball easier and your round more enjoyable,” according to The Wigwam.
The resort’s history dates to 1929, long before Litchfield Park incorporated into its own city. The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. built The Wigwam to house visiting company executives.
Today, The Wigwam is owned by JDM Partners, a real estate acquisition firm founded by Jerry Colangelo, David Eaton and Mel Shultz.
In 2019, The Wigwam’s golf shop was renovated and the resort partnered with Adidas, Travis Mathew and FootJoy.
“This increased attention to better merchandising has been successful for the club,” according to The Wigwam.
