Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek is accepting applications from Southwest Valley students interested in vying for one of five $1,000 scholarships it plans to award to graduating seniors this year.

One outstanding senior from Agua Fria, Desert Edge, Estrella Foothills, Millennium and Verrado high schools will be awarded a scholarship, according to a release.

Students have until midnight Wednesday, April 14, to submit their applications here.

To qualify, students must have a minimum unweighted grade point average of 2.5, a minimum 175 documented community service hours throughout their high school careers and have participated in at least two clubs or sports.

Students who need assistance with the application process may email Dr. Betsy Hargrove, club Vocational Service Committee chairwoman, at bhargro@chooseAESD.org or call her at 623-734-8675.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by Wednesday, April 28, and will be invited to attend the club’s meeting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, with a guest to be recognized.

Rotary International is a service organization committed to “Service Above Self.” As a local chapter of this worldwide non-profit organization, Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek unites neighbors and community leaders who give time and resources to improve their community and our world, the release stated.
