Litchfield Elementary School District launched a new website, lesd79.org, this week.

Visitors to the new site, which went live Wednesday, July 1, are greeted with colorful images of district and school activities, as well as a message advising them to call the district office at 623-535-6000 if they are unable to find information they need. Users who go to the district’s old web address, lesd.k12.az.us, are automatically rerouted to the new site.

LESD serves students in Avondale, Buckeye, Goodyear and Litchfield Park.

On the home page, visitors will find the district’s address and contact information at the top of the page, as well as a drop-down menu with links to each of the district’s elementary and middle schools.

They also will find tabs for quick access to information about the district, academics, departments, staff directory, family/community and employment. There are links for COVID-19 updates; parent, student and staff portals; district news and latest social media updates; governing board meeting schedules, agendas and minutes; school calendar; registration information; bus routes and schedules; volunteering and more.

Laura Combs, LESD educational technology coordinator, spearheaded the project.

“After bringing many stakeholders together to provide input, the team decided on four areas for improvement: Technical requirements to ensure ADA compliance and provide translation, site structure, design and content to provide a fresh, modern look with easy navigation, high level of functionality including calendar and social media integration, news and a mobile app, and comprehensive training for our users,” said Ms. Combs, former principal of Rancho Santa Fe Elementary School.

“I believe our new website exceeds our expectations and I hope that our visitors will feel the same,” she said.
