Litchfield Park Historical Society, in partnership with the Church at Litchfield Park, will present Arizona’s Great Escape, a hybrid Zoom/in-person event at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Writer, photographer and certified teacher Steve Renzi, a University of Arizona graduate with a degree in history, will discuss what happened when 25 Nazi German prisoners of war escaped from the Papago Park POW camp near Phoenix on Christmas Eve 1944 and headed toward Mexico.
To make the escape, the men dug nearly 200 feet of tunnel underground over four months.
To attend in person, visit churchatlitchfieldpark.org or call 623-935-3411 to register. The church is at 300 N. Old Litchfield Road in Litchfield Park.
