Buckeye police have arrested a 29-year-old woman after her husband was shot Friday morning.

Katherine Wheeler was booked Saturday on aggravated assault charges, police said.

Buckeye police received a call about 10 a.m. April 28 of the shooting on Wycliff Court near Verrado and Eastview ways.

The caller said his wife had shot him, and officers arrived at the home to find a man in his 30s with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a release from the Buckeye Police Department.

He was taken to a hospital where police said he was in stable condition and expected to survive.

His wife remained at the scene. Two juveniles were in the home when the shooting occurred, and the Arizona Department of Child Safety was contacted.

According to the department’s April 28 release, initial information indicated the incident began as an argument between the husband and wife that escalated to the shooting.
