Buckeye police have arrested a 16-year-old for a threat made last week involving the Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies homecoming game and booked him into juvenile detention on a felony charge.
Authorities received reports of social media threats on Oct. 27, the day before the school’s homecoming game.
The suspect, a former student at the school, was identified quickly, police said. He was taken into custody Monday morning, Oct. 31.
The threats resulted in the cancellation of the homecoming game and dance, school officials said.
“The Buckeye Police Department will not tolerate activity that disrupts the safety and security of our community,” officials said in a release.
“Threats made against our schools, whether they are meant as a joke or not, are dangerous and will result in criminal charges.”
