A 54-year-old Buckeye man has been arrested after he came into the city's police headquarters to report that he had shot his wife, authorities said.
Hercelyn Mayo arrived at Buckeye Police Department on Tuesday morning to report the shooting at a home near Desert Bloom Street and 201st Drive. He said he and his wife had an argument.
The suspect was taken into custody while officers responded to the home where they found 52-year-old Charon Mayo dead with gunshot wounds.
Investigators said they later learned the suspect had left the scene shortly after the shooting and drove to a relative’s home before going to the police station.
Mayo has been charged with homicide, police said.
