Buckeye COVID cases level off over one week

City’s largest zip code sees 1st positive case jump in 4 weeks

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported the overall number of Buckeye COVID-19 cases at approximately 3,657 on Monday, Aug. 24.

That’s an increase of 3 percent over the past week (3,549), which is almost exactly the same increase as the week prior between Aug. 10 and Aug. 17.

Breaking it down by zip code, there are 2,132 cases in Buckeye’s 85326 code, which includes areas of Liberty, Goodyear, Hassayampa and Cotton Center. That represents a 3.9 percent increase from the previous week, and the first time in four weeks that the case percentage has gone up from the previous week’s increase. The zip code had seen declining positive case increases of 11.8, 4.9 and 3.3 the past three weeks.

There are 783 cases in Buckeye’s 85340 code, which includes areas of Litchfield Park, Glendale, Avondale and Goodyear, for a 0.9 percent increase in one week, which represents a fourth consecutive weeks of declining positive case increases.

There are 583 cases in Buckeye’s 85396 code, which includes areas of Surprise. That represents a 3.6 percent increase since Aug. 17, which represents a fourth consecutive weeks of declining positive case increases.

There are 159 cases in Buckeye’s 85361, which includes areas of Surprise and Wittmann. That represents one new case since Aug. 17.

Here are the number of COVID-19 cases for zip codes that include Buckeye and some surrounding areas, according to the ADHS. The ADHS said more than 90% of cases were mapped to the address of the patient’s residence:
