Wreaths Across America observance Dec. 18
Posted
A Wreaths Across America National Remembrance Day ceremony will be held Dec. 18 at Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St. in Mesa.
A special program begins at 9:30 a.m., with wreaths placed at graves of military veterans graves at 10 a.m. — the same time as at other cemeteries across the U.S.
The Apache Junction High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will be presenting the colors. The Arizona Emerald Society of the Pipes and Drums and trumpet player Debbie Fisher will perform, according to a release.
“A special ‘thank you’ to VFW Post 7968, Albertsons/Safeway, Crescent Crown, Bruce and Linda Ingram, Mountain View Cemetery, Hensley & Co., American Legion Post 27 and Sons of American Legion Post 27 for being $1,500 sponsors; and Guild Mortgage Co. for being a national Sponsor for $5,000,” the release states.
Residents who would like to come out to the ceremony as well as help decorate a veteran’s grave should call Nancy Fassbender at 520-280-4715.
“This is a rewarding experience that you and your family can share together. I believe that children need to understand what each of these veterans did to serve and sacrificed in order to help make our country free,” the release states.
