Trash-hauling contract to be discussed by Apache Junction City Council Nov. 18

A proposed contract for solid waste, recycling and disposal services  with Allied Waste Transportation Inc., doing business as Republic Services, is to be discussed at the Apache Junction City Council's Nov. 18 work session.

The work session begins at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.

Stephen Herring and other representatives of Republic Services will be in attendance to answer council questions, according to the meeting's agenda.

Other items on the agenda are:

  • a presentation and discussion on proposed amendments to Apache Junction City Code, Volume I, Chapter 9: Health and Sanitation, Article 9-5: Collection of Residential Solid Waste.
  • a presentation and discussion on the extinguishment of the 33-foot federally patented roadway easements for portions of Solana Road from 16th Avenue to 15th Avenue.
  • a presentation and discussion on amendments to the Brightview Landscape Services Inc. contract in the amount of $149,751.40 annually --- with a recommended 5% contingency for unforeseen work, for a  total of $157,238.97 annually --- for landscape maintenance in city-owned right-of-way and other locations.
