Runners sought for virtual Lost Dutchman Marathon
Posted
By Darch Oborne
If you have ever wanted to start jogging or running to improve your health, now is the perfect time.
The Lost Dutchman Marathon — which includes 2 mile, 8K, 10K, 1/2 and full marathon — is going “virtual” this year to keep the 20th year tradition alive. And you can run your race anytime between Feb. 6 and 15 and take 24 hours to do it if needed. It’s your choice, your race at your pace.
It’s easy. Just go onto the LDM website, lostdutchmanmarathon.org; choose the distance that you feel that you can complete and then register online. You will receive information to get your runner’s kit equipped with the 20th anniversary race shirt, your race bib, and your finishing medal.
We want you to know that we’re behind you — so we’re sending them to you in advance so you have all your bling come race time. We also are offering local in-person packet pick-up at Road Runner Sports in Tempe or at the Apache Junction Multi-generational Center (see website for details). And this year, enroll with your group of four to six at a discounted price and really celebrate your victory with your group.
Once completed, upload your time information online and wear your shirt proudly anywhere you go. You’ll be in good company.
The Lost Dutchman Marathon is a volunteer-run event and we’ve donated more than $650,000 to youth sports and recreation in the East Valley in our 20 years. Help us continue this wonderful Apache Junction tradition and help our youth — and yourself — by registering today. Start your own tradition by running your selected race every year, and with friends and family. You still have plenty of time to train, so start today and kick off the new year in a positive way.
