Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation plans fundraiser
Posted
The Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation is raising funds for a memorial and has a fundraising golf tournament May 22 at Poston Butte Golf Club, 6100 W. Merrill Ranch Parkway in Florence.
“We finally are going to start up with our first fundraiser after COVID-19 hit,” Nancy Fassbender, Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation Board member, said in a release. “We are looking for more sponsors as well as golfers to come out and have fun. Please send in your application so we can advertise the sponsors as well as get your team registered.”
For more information on sponsorship packages or to register to play, contact Donna Stadum at 480-332-6916 or dshomes1@msn.com.
Cost for 18 holes of play, a cart and lunch is $100 for singles, $375 for teams and $230 for course members. Registration at the tournament starts at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
“We had hoped our main building would have been done by Memorial Day 2021. But due to no fundraising this past year, it has been delayed,” Ms. Fassbender said.
“Our bronze statue, which will greet everyone before they enter the memorial, is done. It will stand 6 feet 2 inches tall. On March 13 we traveled down to Tucson to visit with the sculptor, Ann LaRose. This statue is so real-like and you would swear it was alive. She did an excellent job,” Ms. Fassbender said. “We will be proud to have this statue represent the honor of the Fallen Soldiers who died fighting for our country."
