Peralta Regional Park opening event Wednesday in Gold Canyon

Posted

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of Peralta Regional Park will be held 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Jan. 11, according to a notice at pinalcountyaz.gov.

A quorum — three or more members — of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors and or Pinal County Board of Directors may be in attendance at the event, it states.

Peralta Regional Park is at 17975 E. Peralta Road in Gold Canyon.

Plans for the 480-acre park, off of Peralta Road, include around 8 miles of multi-use trails, as well as areas for picnicking, camping and rock climbing. Despite being so close to civilization, its deliberately limited infrastructure and primitive setting will also allow it to feature a dark-sky designation for night sky viewing.

Plans for the park have been developed in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, Arizona State Land Department, Arizona Game and Fish Department and the City of Apache Junction.
