Community members are invited to an in-person open house to share their input on the design for the Apache Junction Public Library’s new reading garden.
The open house will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the Mountain View Room at the library, 1177 N. Idaho Road.
Various concept boards from the project’s architect will be displayed for review, including a conceptual design of the 5,000-square-foot space and images of possible use areas such as a patio, amphitheater, harvest hub, study nooks and wild garden.
The project is designed to be a multiuse reading oasis for the community to enjoy featuring potential amenities such as shaded reading areas, raised garden beds, dark sky lighting, accessible pathways, and drought-friendly plant irrigation while preserving the views of the Superstition Mountains from the Mountain View Room inside the library.
The reading garden design is a FY 2024-25 capital improvement project. The construction project is anticipated to be included in the FY 2025-26 capital improvement projects, subject to the finalized and adopted FY 2025-26 budget.
