A legal-advertising agreement with the Arizona Republic was recently approved by the Apache Junction City Council.
The cost is $1.42 per line per day for the one-year period of Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2020.
State law requires that the city publish certain legal notices such as election matters, public hearings, bids, etc., according to a memo to the council from City Clerk Jennifer Pena.
“The law further defines ‘newspaper’ and prohibits the use of publications that are designed primarily for advertising, free circulation or circulation at nominal rates or do not have a bona fide list of paying subscribers. The Arizona Republic meets these statutory requirements. The rates increased last year but did not increase this year,” she said in the memo.
