Hundreds of community leaders and supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs in Apache Junction recently gathered to celebrate the success of the local club and its members. Dressed in Mardi Gras attire, the annual yesteryear fundraiser gala was one to remember.
Local business and philanthropic leaders have been involved with the club for decades and yesteryear has become an honored local gala. Guests enjoyed a night of dancing, a lively live auction, and silent auction with many donations from local businesses.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley President & CEO Marcia Mintz remarked, “This signature event continues to be the ‘must attend’ gala of the season in Apache Junction because the committee focuses on fun and supporting the kids in Apache Junction. They recognize the impact this event has on hundreds of young people here.”
Guests raised nearly $175,000 for the Superstition Mountain Branch at this year’s event.
“The Superstition Mountain Branch serves nearly 400 youth and teen members each year and is a key resource for families in Apache Junction,” said Connie Van Driel, chair of the yesteryear gala. “We are so grateful for the immense community support our club receives, highlighted by another successful Yesteryear fundraiser. These funds allow us to make our upcoming summer programs more affordable to the families we serve.”
Summer programs are open now for registration. The Superstition Mountain Branch, 2805 S. Ironwood Drive, will offer all-day summer camp for $60 for biweekly sessions. Members ages 5-12 will enjoy all-day fun (7 a.m.-6 p.m.) and breakfast and lunch are offered. Teens can attend the club for free with annual membership.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s Superstition Mountain Branch empowers young people in Apache Junction to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of the community. The Superstition Mountain Branch offers affordable after-school and summer programs for hundreds of young people in grades K-12. It is one of 30 Valley Clubs in which BGCAZ provides award-winning programs designed to change the lives of young people.
