Teenagers entering ninth-12th grade who either reside in or attend school in Apache Junction are being sought to apply to be on the Youth Advisory Council.
The Apache Junction City Council in 2016 established the Youth Advisory Council to provide local youth a voice in community issues, educate them on local government and develop leadership skills in area youth, according to a release.
The group acts as teen advisors to the City Council, city boards/commissions and city departments on matters directly related to youth programming and youth-related issues.
Meetings run twice a month, with additional meetings and volunteer requirements scheduled as necessary.
“Come join us as we tackle different issues that teens deal with, learn leadership skills, volunteer for your community and make new friends,” the release states.
Applications are at ajcity.net/yac or can be picked up at the front desk at the multigenerational center. For more information about the program, contact Recreation Coordinator JJ Underwood at 480-474-5207 or email@example.com.
