Why did you decide to open Mozzie Fox in Apache Junction, when did it open and what services do you offer? We were in East Mesa for 13 years, but lost our lease after our plaza was sold to build a credit union from Utah. I live in Apache Junction, and I had been looking to open a second location here prior to finding out I had to move. I was hesitant to leave Mesa completely since we had built a great client base there. Fortunately for us the majority of our clients followed us, and for some we were even closer to them. After giving the new space a refresh, we opened on Wednesday, June 11. Our focus is haircutting and coloring, with specialties in curly hair and scalp health.
What is something many people don’t know about you? I am working on a novel that is based on three generations of my father’s side of the family and their journey from Ireland. My grandparents were both hairdressers in Hollywood in the 1930s so I plan on including their story as well.
How are you involved in the local community? I have joined the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, and I have reached out to some local nonprofits hoping to be a longterm supporter.
What drew you to your community? Living here I have always appreciated the “small town” community, as a business owner seeing the growth it just makes sense to be here. A four-minute drive to work is also a plus!
What do you most cherish from your childhood? Growing up with my older sister, she was my best friend and always looked out for me. She may not have enjoyed being stuck taking care of her little sister as much as I did.
What is your most quirky talent? I know too much useless trivia, especially if it is about the golden age of Hollywood.
