Marks: School district offering curbside meal service for kids during outbreak

Posted

To Apache Junction Unified School District parents, guardians and community members:

At AJUSD we are concerned not only with student and staff safety, but ensuring our students remain well fed during our period of school closure.

We are only allowed per USDA guidelines to serve meals during “unscheduled” closings and therefore will serve curbside meals available 10-11:30 a.m. March 23-27.

Individuals are asked to pull up to the side gate in the north parking lot and your sack meals will be given to you while you wait in the car. In the event that schools remain closed past this date, we will continue this free service until school reopens.

AJUSD curbside meal service is 10-11:30 a.m. at Apache Junction High School, 2525 S. Ironwood Drive. Remember:

• Free meals will be served for any child 18 or under
• District enrollment is not required
• Children must be present
• Meals should be consumed at home or off site
• A breakfast and lunch will be served during each meal period

Please also note that we have enhanced our cleaning and hygiene procedures to meet this new challenge.

Food service workers are required to wash their hands and replace single use gloves every 15 minutes.

ur kitchens, service areas, and high touch contact surfaces will be sanitized continuously throughout their use to ensure their safety.

Updates will be available at ajusd.org and facebook.com/ajusd43.
