Kimble: Still time to make tax credit donation to support our schools

Posted

With April 15 fast approaching, I just wanted to remind everyone that there is still time to make a tax credit donation to support our schools.

The state of Arizona allows people to make a donation to public schools --- $200 for single filers and $400 for married couples filing jointly --- that can be used to support a variety of extracurricular activities such as band, art, athletics, ROTC, field trips and clubs. The donation can be designated for a specific school, student and activity or be used toward pay-to-play fees or costs of SAT and ACT testing.

Additionally, between now and June 2022, tax credit donations can be used to fund the purchase of capital items such as furniture, athletic equipment, software, textbooks, community school meal programs, health care supplies for students and school playground equipment. People can earn a dollar-to-dollar credit against their tax liability.

Undoubtedly, tax credit donations provide a tremendous benefit to our students and teachers. Donations can be made by both parents of our District’s students as well as people who don’t have children who attend our schools. It is a great way to help our community, support our students and reduce your own tax liability.

As always, we truly appreciate any support which can be provided to the Apache Junction Unified School District.
