Holiday shopping weekends slated at Superstition Mountain Museum

Thanksgiving arrives late this year and Christmas will be right on its heels. The weekend of Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28-29, means big holiday shopping and savings opportunities for visitors to the Superstition Mountain Museum, 4087 N. Apache Trail (State Route 88) in Apache Junction.
“It also is a great opportunity to get the family into the holiday spirit by enjoying all of the old-fashioned decorations that blanket the barn and museum site each year,” according to a release.
The museum will be hosting the annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Nov. 28-29 in the Barn Holiday Boutique featuring artists and crafters displaying and selling their unique handmade items. Tables will be placed amidst the decorations and on the museum patio and grounds.
“Come and share the festive mood that will prevail and you just might find the perfect Christmas gift for someone — or yourself,” the release states.
The big trains will be running and a free Ore Stamp Mill demonstration is scheduled 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28. Admission to the Holiday Barn Boutique, ore mill demonstration and parking are free.
In addition, Nov. 29 will be “Museum Store Sunday.” The museum gift shop will be participating in an international campaign aimed at encouraging shoppers to do their holiday shopping at their local museum shops in order to find unique items and support local cultural, non-profit institutions.
As an added enticement for shoppers, on that day the gift shop is having a sale on jewelry, offering 25% off pieces that make special gifts. The sale will include unique investment-quality Native American hand-crafted pieces and silver jewelry made with amethyst from the Four Peaks Amethyst Mine, the only amethyst mine in Arizona.
“Combined with the fact that as a non-profit organization, the shop does not charge sales tax, the savings can be very significant,” the release states.
Last-minute shoppers can wait until the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12 -13, to enjoy a trip to the museum and see the decorations and another weekend of Holiday Boutique magic.
