MESA — “Give me a G! I need a G!”
That was what Denny Brown said during the auction portion of the East Valley Institute of Technology Education Foundation Inc.’s 16th annual EVIT Gourmet Breakfast Fundraiser. Brown not only got the $1,000 bid for an item that the EVIT board member was seeking, he got more, and the school got much more at the Nov. 9 event.
The breakfast, held at and hosted by the EVIT Culinary Program, raised tens of thousands of dollars for the vocational high school’s scholarship program just from the live auction alone.
There was also a silent auction of unique items and experiences, Table sponsors, event sponsors, and individual tables that make the event one of the school’s more visible annual fundraisers.
Breakfast, prepared by EVIT culinary students, included figs and a unique breaded egg dish. There were also guest speakers, student stories and recognition of both new and longtime donors to the school, which first opened in 1989.
The breakfast is the largest annual fundraiser for the school, which is its own public school district serving the East Valley. It is a joint technological education district with programs are available to students at the member high schools.
EVIT serves 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students from nine sending districts that meet class prerequisites.
