Residents of Apache Junction can throw out a load of trash at the landfill during “Free Dump Week” Feb. 3-8.
During that week, the Apache Junction Landfill, 4050 S. Tomahawk Road, offers city residents a free drop off, in partnership with Republic Services, which owns and operates the landfill.
City residents can take one free load to the landfill during the week. Bring proof of residency (such as a water bill). Each household is allowed one pickup truck bed size of refuse, with a weight limit of 500 pounds. If your load exceeds this limit, you will be charged the regular rate for the overage.
For your protection, all visitors must wear hard hats and safety vests while on-site. You may bring your own, or you can purchase a set at the landfill for under $15.
The landfill’s hours of operation are 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
The free weeklong service is offered four times a year. The next free dump week is slated for Nov. 4-9. For information, call the Apache Junction Landfill at 602-237-2078
