February events in Apache Junction include Lost Dutchman Days rodeo, parade

From free lectures (Thursdays in February) at Superstition Mountain Museum to Lost Dutchman Days and its associated events (Feb. 28- March 1) at various locations, there’s a lot going on in Apache Junction. Events include:

  • STAMP MILL DEMO: 1-1:45 p.m., Feb. 20 and 29 at Superstition Mountain Museum, 4087 N. Apache Trail. Hear the old steam whistle blow and take five minutes to get to the newly restored Cossak 20-stamp Ore Mill. Free demonstration.   • SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN RAILROAD: Runs Thursday through Sunday until Mother’s Day 2020. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the small train set runs in the barn at the Superstition Mountain Museum with the Lou Oates video of the Big Trains and docents on the railroads in Arizona.   • FREE LECTURE SERIES: 2 p.m., Thursdays, including Feb. 20 --- Greg McNamee: "Arizona for Newcomers"; and Feb. 27--- Steve Renzi: "Arizona’s Great Escape." All are in the Superstition Mountain Museum Amphitheater, 4087 N. Apache Trail. Go to: superstitionmountainmuseum.org.
  • LOST DUTCHMAN DAYS: Feb. 28- March 1, locations vary by activities. With a mission of “Putting Smiles on Kids’ Faces,” the 56th Annual Lost Dutchman Days has professional rodeo action, a carnival with 30-plus rides and carnival attractions; the parade viewing; and rodeo dance at the Elks Lodge 2349. Free entertainment including music daily; food and vendor booths. Admission to the Event Center is $2. Free parking. Additional cost for the rodeo. Profits from the event are donated to youth organizations and other youth-serving community programs. See: lostdutchmandays.org.
  • HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE EVENT: 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 29, 575 E. Baseline at the City of Apache Junction’s public works operations yard. The city will collect household hazardous waste items typically not deposited in regular trash; white goods; electronic recycling; and offer document shredding. Free for Apache Junction and Pinal County residents in the surrounding area with residency proof.
