Nancy Fassbender of Gold Canyon a 2020 inductee to Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame

Posted

Nancy Fassbender of Gold Canyon is one of 23 fellow military veterans who have been chosen for the 2020 Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame.

The Unified Arizona Veterans organization annually selects outstanding state veterans who have made significant personal contributions to their community, state or nation. These clearly exceptional veterans are then submitted for the governor’s approval for induction into the Hall of Fame, according to a release.

Since 2010, Ms. Fassbender has been a board member of the Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation. She is the research/historian and planned several fundraising events for the foundation.

During her research of the Pinal County fallen soldiers, she found that there were individual stories to tell and she wrote the book “My Fallen Hero.”

“This book not only has stories of the fallen heroes, but also interesting facts and stories,” the release states.

All the proceeds of her book go to the Pinal County Veterans Memorial.

Ms. Fassbender has been involved with her community and veteran organizations throughout the Valley. She has planned many events to thank veterans for their service.

“One major event has been with the 50th Vietnam War Commemoration out of Washington, D.C. We are trying to reach as many Vietnam veterans who we can to thank them personally and give them the designated bronze pin that has been issued by the Department of Defense,” she said.

Ms. Fassbender also is an active member of the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce.

“Since this COVID has hit our community, we have not been able to plan events as we normally have done. All my veterans events have been shut down. It is so disappointing to me as I want to be out among my heroes and thank every one of them,” she said in the release.
