Horizon Health and Wellness is hosting a Family Fun Fest celebration.

The festivities will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Horizon Health and Wellness EarthHeart Park and Garden, 625 N. Plaza Drive in Apache Junction. The event is free to seniors, families and kids of all ages, according to a release.

The family friendly celebration includes a variety of music with a live DJ. There will also be an inflatable bounce house and obstacle course, along with hands-on activities for youth including a petting zoo, face painting, piñata breaking, rock painting, and arts and crafts.

A special feature to this year’s event is a Teddy Bear/Doll Clinic, where children are encouraged to bring in their favorite stuffed animal or doll to receive a mock check-up. Routine check-ups include listening to the doll’s heartbeat, temperature, reflexes, etc.

“It is a way to relieve the children’s fear of going to the doctor,” Dr. Arthur Chou, M.D., chief medical officer at Horizon Health and Wellness, said in the release. “It helps them when they get to see and touch some of the equipment and the tools that the doctor uses,” Dr. Chou said.

Other features include food trucks serving BBQ, hot dogs and hamburgers, pretzels, shaved ice, soft drinks, and more. There will be a balloon artist and raffle prizes, along with numerous artisans selling art and fine crafts.

"So make sure to bring your own blankets or chairs and perhaps an umbrella for seating and cover on the grassy area near the entertainment stage," the release states.

The Horizon Health and Wellness team will be providing health education and health screenings.

Horizon’s events have grown over the years as members of the community learn about their purpose to provide great, affordable healthcare and access to seniors, families, and individuals.

“We really love to be involved in community events. They provide a safe and fun way to bring people in the community together,” Laura Larson-Huffaker, M.C., LPC, chief executive officer at Horizon Health and Wellness, said in the release. “This event is all about reaching out to families in the community and our patients to show them some appreciation, and to let them know that Horizon is committed and passionate about the physical and emotional well-being of each and every patient in the communities we serve,” Ms. Larson-Huffaker said.

The premier sponsor for this event is Arizona Complete Health Care.
