Central Arizona College will start 2025 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new buildings at the Superstition Mountain campus in Apache Junction.
The ceremony will mark the official opening of the new Allied Health and Skilled Trades buildings, as well as the C building renovations.
The event will start at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 805 S. Idaho Road.
Construction began in fall 2023. Renovations to the C building were completed in March and CAC gained occupancy to both the Skilled Trades and Allied Health buildings on Nov. 1.
“These new facilities allow the college to expand educational opportunities for students and allow the college to remain poised for growth based on industry needs,” CAC President Jackie Elliott stated in a press release.
The Allied Health building provides a home for massage therapy, pharmacy, phlebotomy, medical assistant and radiology, as well as new programs for aesthetician, certified nursing assistant and sonography.
The classrooms and labs replicate realistic health-care environments, including hospital and operating rooms, and clinical settings equipped with simulation technologies such as computerized patient simulators, high-fidelity mannequins and more. The massage therapy and aesthetician programs will offer a “Superstition Spa” experience for customers.
The Skilled Trades facility provides classrooms, labs and exterior yards for the current electrical plumbing, ceramics and creative arts programs. Workshops will mirror real-world work environments that allow students to develop industry specific skills and practical experience.
Renovations to the C Building included the addition of a computer lab, virtual reality lab, an expanded E-Sports Lab, and faculty and public safety offices. The café, student lounge, and student organization space remained unchanged.
The new construction also includes the 19,850-square-foot Pinal County Accelerator which will provide workforce training for South Korean electric battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution. LGES is building a manufacturing complex in Queen Creek.
The Pinal County Accelerator is part of the state’s $30 million Future48 Workforce Accelerator project.
The training facility is being built through a partnership between Pinal County, CAC, LGES, the Arizona Commerce Authority, McCarthy Building Cos., Design Systems Inc. and Architekton. It is expected to be completed this month.
CAC will be holding a separate opening ceremony for the Pinal County Accelerator in the spring.
