I have had two of my vehicles damaged in parking lots in the past few months, once at the Ace Hardware and once at Home Depot, costing me over $2,000 in repairs. The people responsible drove off each time.
Then, last week I had a hubcap stolen from my F350 at Costco and two days ago my son’s receiver hitch was stolen from his truck. This will cost us each $300 to replace these items.
My family has worked very hard for many years and we have been good citizens and donated to many charities, even when we ourselves had little. Those of you who think that stealing from your neighbors is somehow justified or acceptable behavior need to look at the people with whom you associate. When you look around do you see people you can trust in all circumstances? People of high character who would do you no harm? People who have made every effort to better themselves and the world around them?
Probably not. I expect you see losers who give you the feedback you require to maintain your sketchy existence. Trust me, this wears thin as you get older and regrets will come in many forms. Mostly, will be your lack of advancement in all areas and a fading and dismal future ahead.
I don’t expect this to make any difference to most of you, since most of you likely don’t read newspapers anyway. But, if just one person realizes that stealing from those around you is a road to despair then maybe this effort will be worth it.
