Donated water needed for Apache Junction hydration challenge

Posted

Have you been wondering how you can make a positive impact in the community during these crazy times but it’s just too hot outside?

One simple act can make all the difference to someone in need. Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Department is challenging its residents and businesses to help AJ stay hydrated, according to a release.

To meet this challenge, simply drop off a case --- or more --- of bottled water through Aug. 30 to a drop-off location during their normal business hours. Donated water will be distributed to those in need through hydration partners (Horizon Health, Superstition Fire and Medical District, Apache Junction Police Department, Apache Junction Park Rangers, Genesis Project, Superstition Community Food Bank and more).

Drop-off locations include:

  • Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center: 1035 N. Idaho Road.
  • Apache Junction Public Library: 1177 N. Idaho Road.
  • Superstition Community Food Bank, 575 N. Idaho Road No. 701 (8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday)

If you would like to donate but don’t have a way to drop it off, send an  email to ggartner@ajcity.net or call 480-474-5119 to schedule a pick-up.

For more information on this program or other programs and services, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 480-983-2181 or go to ajcity.net/parks.  You can also follow AJ Parks and Rec on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
