We enjoyed your well-written article in the Independent about improvements to Peralta Road (“Grant sought to improve Peralta Road in Gold Canyon” on page 24 of the April 2025 issue of the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent).
The county put ditches along the road eliminating all parking places for hikers or equestrians to park and use the adjacent trust lands. For example, there is a big parking area on the left near the entrance to Donnelly Stables. That was ditched shut with “no camping” signs put up.
The no camping is good, because a lot of garbage was being left. But, the ditch should have been put around the parking area so day use people could still park.
Do you know who in the county we could contact who might have power to correct that? Thanks so much.
