Dick Cherry

On October 4, 2019, Dick Cherry, passed away at the age of 85. He was born in Holyoke, CO to parents F.E. and Wilma Cherry.

He graduated from Canogo Park High School and later graduated from North Central College in Naperville, IL. Dick went on to join the US Army and served 3 years in the Army Security Agency.

He married his sweetheart Nancy in 1961 and together they raised two children. His professional career started with Rocketdyne Division of North American Aviation, where he stayed for 11 years ending as Assistant Supervisor of Special Machine Maintenance. For the next 27 years Dick worked for General Electric Company as a Sales Engineer and a Regional Sales Manager of Installation & Engineering Services, serving the US and Canada with offices in New York, Michigan, and Illinois.

Dick and Nancy moved to Sun City West in 1994, where he went on to become a member of Sheriff’s Posse of Sun City West in 1995 and Commander in 2001. Dick was also a member of American Legion Post 94 and was Posse Liaison Officer to the Sun City West Fire District from 2011 to 2015. During this time, he also served as a Sun City West Fire District Fire Corps member from 2009 to 2012 and the North County Fire & Medical District/AFMA Board Member from 2016 to present.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his stepson, Gregory Gageby Sr.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a niece.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 28th, 2019 at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the AFMA Firefighters Charities 13940 W.
