Derrick Glum is the new chief operating officer for Mountain Vista Medical Center and Florence Hospital, both Steward Health Care facilities.

He will be responsible for oversight in all areas of the hospitals' operations including daily operations strategy, patient care, physician relations and financial performance, according to a release.

“Derrick’s diverse background in operational and administrative positions makes him an excellent fit to oversee the daily operations at our hospitals,” Damon Brown, president of Mountain Vista Medical Center and Florence Hospital and Arizona market president for Steward Health Care, said in the release.

Mr. Glum comes to Mountain Vista after working as the system interim chief executive officer, chief operating officer for Gila River Healthcare/Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Chandler.

In his roles there, he was responsible for the business strategy and operations for the health system’s hospital, skilled nursing facility, ambulatory, primary care and specialty care clinics. He has also worked in hospital administrator positions for Renown Health and Tahoe Pacific Hospitals in Reno, Nevada, as well as rehabilitation centers in Utah and Idaho, the release states.

Mr. Glum has a bachelor of science degree in health administration from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah and a master of business administration in healthcare management from Western Governors University in Salt Lake, City, Utah.

“I see my role as instrumental in developing and improving systems that result in patient-centric care,” Mr. Glum said in the release. “I strongly believe in having a positive impact on the community I serve by finding ways that support our patients and community members in living happy, healthier lives.”

He and his wife, Sara, have five daughters ages 7-17 and are actively engaged in the Queen Creek community where they live, the release states.
