U.S. Congress candidate Ward volunteers, distributes food

Anne Marie Ward , who is challenging Paul Gosar for the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress in AZ-04 for the Aug. 4 primary election, has shifted her campaign to help where Arizonans needed it the most.

Some food banks in the district have seen a tripling in demand since late March, according to a release.

In that time, Ms. Ward has traveled more than 3,600 miles and prepared nearly 600 boxes of emergency food. Her team has volunteered more than 395 hours of community service in 27 locations and has visited communities, small and large, in every county in the congressional district.

She has been packing food boxes, distributing food to disabled seniors, delivering food and face masks to healthcare workers, and providing water to those without shelter, the release states.

“Arizonans are hurting. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a substantial impact on our communities, but we are also resilient," Ms. Ward said in the release. "The way Arizonans have come together is deeply inspiring. Arizonans helping Arizonans is how we will get through this unprecedented time."

As a former middle-school math teacher, she also launched a math tutorial series to help students in AZ-04 who need extra support while completing the remainder of their school year online.
