City of Apache Junction refurbishes truck for mobile library

The Apache Junction Public Library recently had a ribbon cutting to celebrate its refurbished mobile library.
The Bookmobile will provide scheduled stops around Apache Junction, including visits to assisted living facilities, mobile home parks, schools and businesses. Anyone interested in being on the mobile library route should contact the library.
Members of the community can check out books and DVDs from the mobile library as well as apply for library cards and pick up holds. It is also equipped as a Wi-Fi hotspot and has a laptop and printer available for use.
“We are extremely excited to offer this new service to the community and believe it will increase awareness and access to library services and materials,” Library Director Pam Harrison said in a release.
The library was awarded a Library Services and Technology Act grant by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, to renovate the library-owned box truck, once used for a parenting education program.
The March 2 ribbon-cutting event included comments from Harrison; Mayor Chip Wilson; and Megan Carbiener, programming librarian and outreach supervisor.
