Body of missing Apache Junction woman discovered

Posted

The body of an elderly woman was discovered in the 900 block of East Junction Street in Apache Junction at about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 9, Apache Junction Police Department said.

The victim was identified as Cheryl Beeter, a 77-year-old woman with dementia.

Ms. Beeter was reported missing Aug. 8 after she wandered away from her family home in the 900 block of East Fourth Avenue, police said.

"Officers from Apache Junction Police Department immediately began searching the area and Arizona Department of Public Safety activated a Silver Alert.  Beeter’s body was discovered less than half of a mile from her home. AJPD detectives believe that ultimately Beater’s death was heat-related," Cpl. Marshall Harshman, AJPD's media and community liaison officer, said.
