Apache Junction Parks and Recreation is offering recreational youth basketball leagues this summer for boys and girls ages 6-8 and 8-11.

There are two leagues available. Ages 6-8 will play on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturdays at the Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center, 1035 N. Idaho Road. Ages 8-11 will play on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Imagine Prep School, 1843 W. 16th Ave., and Saturdays at the MGC, according to a release.

Registration fees are $45 for the ages 6-8 league and $50 for the ages 8-11 league. Get a $5 discount if registered by May 27.

Volunteers coaches are needed. Visit the basketball section of apachejunctionaz.gov/sports or stop by the MGC to complete and submit the volunteer application online.

Leagues kick off with a clinic on Saturday, May 29, at the MGC. The clinic for those registered in the ages 6-8 league is at noon and the ages 8-11 league clinic is at 1 p.m. On-site registration may be accepted during the clinic if space is available. Attending the clinic is important in helping to form balanced teams. Leagues will end July 24.

Parent/tot basketball for ages 3-5

Apache Junction Parks and Recreation is also offering a parent/tot basketball program for boys and girls ages 3-5. This program is designed to prepare youth for organized team sports and better prepare parents to become volunteer coaches.

Parents will actively work with their children under the fun and inspirational direction of Coach Wes. Parent/tot basketball will be 11-11:45 a.m. Saturdays, June 19 and 26, July 10 and 17, at the MGC. Registration fee is $30 per child. Limited to the first 20 kids registered.

Basketball camp

Apache Junction Parks and Recreation is working with Sam Valencia, Apache Junction High School varsity basketball coach, to bring a six-day basketball camp for boys and girls entering grades 4-9. Don’t miss this opportunity to get specialized instruction and coaching for your child. It is noon-2 p.m. Monday-Saturday, June 21-26, at the AJHS North Gym, 2525 S. Ironwood Drive, with a cost of $60.
