Baseline Avenue closures begin Oct. 19 for repaving, widening

Posted

Improvements in Apache Junction to Baseline Avenue between Meridian Road and Ironwood Drive are scheduled to begin Oct. 19. The work will result in the closure of the street for up to two weeks with only business traffic allowed from Meridian.

The closure is scheduled through Nov. 2. Traffic will be detoured to Southern Avenue, according to a release.

The street will be repaved, including a strengthening of the road base. Bike lanes will be added to Baseline along with a new shared left-turn lane from the Central Arizona Project canal to Ironwood.

Message boards along the corridor will remind roadway users of the closure and business access before and during the project. Drivers are encouraged to take extra time, be extra cautious in work zones, and watch for the safety of street workers when navigating this area.
