Rates for Apache Junction Water District customers within the city limits will increase approximately 2.3% for FY 2025-26, which translates to a bill increase of approximately $1.75 a month for the average customer using less than 7,500 gallons per month.
Rates for customers living in the county will increase approximately 4.8%, which translates to a bill increase of approximately $4.30 a month for the average customer using less than 7,500 gallons per month, according to a release.
The increase is part of the annual budget and rate-setting process, which includes a review of operating expenses and equipment replacement costs impacting the rate adjustment. The rate schedule is available online at www.ajwaterdistrict.org or upon request. The new rates went into effect July 1 and were approved by the water district board June 17.
This year, major improvements to the water system will include:
- The drilling of a new water production well;
- The design and construction of additional pumps at booster station II;
- The purchase of an advanced water purification pilot trailer;
- And the design and construction initiation of a water district office.
